Don't Panic about MU Stage 2 ! We are here.

Meaningful Use Deadlines Are Approaching! but you don't need to panic here are the simple steps if you do it by yourself or just call us.

Meaningful-UseTo receive an incentive payment, Medicare eligible professionals (EPs) must attest annually to their meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. If you are a first time reporter, the deadline to attest is October 1, 2014.

All providers regardless of their stage of meaningful use are only required to demonstrate meaningful use for a three-month EHR reporting period. This 3-month reporting period is fixed to the calendar year in order to align with existing CMS quality measurement programs, such as PQRS.

CMS is permitting this one-time three-month reporting period in 2014 only so that all providers who must upgrade to 2014 Certified EHR Technology will have adequate time to implement their Certified EHR systems.

Know the difference between the Certified Technology and the Meaningful Use Stage

  • Beginning in 2014, all providers that attest in 2014 and 2015 must use technology that has been certified for 2014. If you attest in 2014 you cannot use a 2011 certified EHR.
  • Starting in 2014, providers who have met Stage 1 for two or three years need to meet meaningful use Stage 2 criteria with 2014 certified technology.
  • Starting in 2014, providers who have met Stage 1 for less than two years need to meet meaningful use Stage 1 criteria, but they must use technology certified for 2014.

Providers who were early demonstrators of meaningful use in 2011 will meet three consecutive years of meaningful use under the Stage 1 criteria before advancing to MU Stage 2 criteria in 2014. All other providers would meet two years of meaningful use under the Stage 1 criteria before advancing to the Stage 2 criteria in their third year.

To demonstrate meaningful use under Stage 2 criteria – Providers must meet:

  • 17 core objectives and 3 menu objectives that they select from a total list of 6, or a total of 20 core objectives.
